I was just looking through google for anything potentially worthy of an update, and I saw this article on the bbc site come up. They're talking about broadening the market so more girls will play games, of course for monetary puporses. But I was wondering what kind of games the female sector was actually making. Well, I could make jokes about talk sims, zit picking, Romance Games , Bejewlled Rip-offs, More Dating Games and Dancing and Clothes Sims . But I don't need to. It's a bit shameful. I admit I was generalising on purpose. I couldn't resist. But to be fair, I've never seen a girl inside a lan cafe/at one of the shitty london shows (playstation thingy, gamestars, both wank). There needs to be more games that appeal to a wider audience, so that would impy fewer 'frag fest' games, and there has to be something more than dating/dance sims. ____________ This is my Blog. People who play video games always want stupid things like wider audiences and more people playing games. The less that play the better. The more niche the better. I have never sat down and played a game thinking if only they had appealed to a wider audience this would be so much better. Sure the companies want more money. I went out of sheer boredom. The summer hols are sometimes just long and dull. At the gamestars thing there was pretty much nothing there to look at apart from the girls. Girl Games? There are unisex games like Zuma, bubble bobble, tetris, the sims, sim city, tycoon games, ... and there are more masculin games like "shoot 'em ups", but I never expirienced a lot of girl games. Except for those barbie shit games... but I've seen more boys play them than girls. Same for the Sims... funny.
