Hello all,

Recently I came across this thread on fenix.divsite.net. You can ignore the text if your Spanish is a bit rusty, but basically it comes down to the fact that Phreak has been developing an IDE which looks about the same as DIV! If anybody here that speaks Spanish could translate some mainpoints then that would be appreciated - especially because I don't speak Spanish either.

(brutally hot-linked image, don't kill me)

So yeah, looks awesome to me. I've tried it and I must say it really isn't usable yet (there's a bunch of buttons that don't work, you can't make a prg window bigger, it crashes regularly when you perform certain actions), but that's because it isn't finished. I really hope to see this finished though, it totally brings back my DIV feelings.

Ah, the div look. That may get me back to using an IDE.
I'll also translate it if someone asks and I've got time.

Oh man! This totally rocks! Its being developed so quicky too! At the moment, there is more potential than DIV ever had - what with the nifty font editor and all. I really look forward to seeing this project completed. WOO!

Judging from this and this picture I'd say yes.

cool. i still have a windows 98 machine i just keep around for doing graphics/animations in div, because it's a very quick, easy way to see/change how the graphics look animated.

From the looks, it doesn't support 16 bit colour in map editing (looking at the palettes)

Well I'm spanish but there is no more to say, the screenshot speaks itself. Phreak is the author of the ide.
The IDE is supposed to work in every OS where fenix can run cause it is being developed with fenix. It is still a wip but It seems that its development its fast. Although the initial intention was to mantain the div IDE appearance finally there will be some differences to improve lacks of DIV IDE. For example, project management has been added and the pal editor includes much more options than the original of DIV.

If you want to try it, you can download it from:
http://forum.divsite.net/viewt … 5&pid=43076
But you will need the image dll and the FreeType.dll which are not included in the zip. However, these librarys are included in this other zip (which an older version of the IDE).

I appreciate very much the work being done by this guy but as I see it achieving an easy to use an stable IDE developed purely in fenix is a hard task and projects like this are likely to be abandoned, but let's think positive and hope this never happen.
If you have any question just ask.

Danko

One thinks that the source code should be made public.

[edit]

It's posted later in the thread.
